What if Wallonia’s energy future could be told through images?

For its annual convention, ORES, an energy distribution network operator in Wallonia, brought together 1,250 employees for an evening dedicated to the challenges and opportunities of tomorrow.

To support this event organised by Nouvelle Dimension, a Belgian event agency, waaaw.studio was invited to design and produce a visual world capable of bringing the convention’s key themes to life.

The objective? Raise awareness of environmental challenges among employees while highlighting the opportunities of the energy transition and the prospects of a more sustainable energy future.

An ambitious subject that deserved much more than a series of traditional presentations!

Our mission was to create positive, accessible and inspiring event visuals that would support the convention’s messages while transforming its visual environment.

Held at Aula Magna in Louvain-la-Neuve, the event provided the ideal setting for large-scale graphic scenography.

From monumental illustrations to LED screen animations and audiovisual content, we brought together several of our creative disciplines to express an optimistic vision of the future.

A project where creativity, innovation and the energy transition found common ground.

Talking about the future without falling into science-fiction clichés. And above all, keeping our feet firmly on the ground… in Wallonia!

The brief was clear: develop a forward-looking artistic direction that conveyed hope and innovation while remaining rooted in the realities of the region.

To meet this challenge, we developed a cohesive visual approach across three main formats.

Animations for monumental LED screens

We created motion design sequences displayed on large vertical LED screens, transforming the event space and immersing participants in the convention’s visual world.

These animations helped establish the overall atmosphere of the evening and reinforced the event’s visual identity.

Three giant illustrations to transform the venue

Another challenge of considerable proportions: creating three large-scale illustrations, each designed to be printed at 20 metres wide and 4.8 metres high.

These creations gave the venue a strong visual identity, offering a positive and contemporary vision of the energy transition.

And because large formats sometimes come with equally large surprises, we also discovered the joys of working with a 9 GB Photoshop PSB file…

Let’s just say our computers also contributed to the energy effort!

Videos to support the presentations

Finally, we produced a series of audiovisual content pieces designed to bring rhythm to the presentations and illustrate the event’s key messages.

Everything had to work as a unified visual world, maintaining graphic consistency across printed materials, LED screens and videos.

A genuine exercise in art direction and multi-format visual creation, all serving a shared message.

A convention that brings a positive and tangible vision of the future to life!

For this evening gathering 1,250 ORES employees, monumental illustrations, LED screen animations and event videos helped transform the venue into an immersive visual environment.

Through a cohesive artistic direction and content specifically created for the occasion, we gave this event dedicated to energy and environmental challenges a strong visual identity.

Our approach aimed to make future-oriented themes more accessible and inspiring, without relying on the usual technological clichés or unrealistic science-fiction visions.

A balance between optimism, innovation and local identity, demonstrating that a sustainable energy future can also be vibrant, inspiring and visually spectacular.

And for once, we spent a tremendous amount of energy imagining how to save it!
