New Year’s Greetings 2024 – Lutosa

Lutosa, a long-standing client, came back to us for the creation of its annual greetings video, with a brief that was both simple and stimulating: take viewers on a journey around the world to celebrate the New Year, with special attention to local cultural traditions.

Rather than delivering a classic greeting card, the idea was to make it a warm, universal, but also surprising moment — showing, for example, that in Australia, people celebrate the New Year… on the beach, with a barbecue in hand.

With a tight schedule (as is often the case at the end of the year), we had to design seven illustrated sets, each representing a continent.

Each setting had to evoke the local New Year’s celebration traditions, while maintaining a consistent graphic unity.

We used the projection mapping technique, consisting of projecting 2D drawings onto simple 3D shapes, which allowed us to add depth, relief and dynamism to each scene during camera animations. A subtle approach — but one that changes everything in the final look.

Our team delivered a film that was elegant, fluid and warm, one that spoke to all audiences thanks to clever cultural references and clear visual storytelling.

The mix of 2D illustration with the depth of 3D projection mapping gave this greetings video a cinematic touch, avoiding the pitfall of a too-classic corporate film.
